WhatsApp launches ‘Check the Facts’ campaign to educate users on how to fight misinformation 

Telugu super news,Delhi,November 28th, 2023: WhatsApp has launched an integrated safety campaign ‘Check the Facts’ in an effort to drive user-awareness around WhatsApp’s safety features and promote digital best practices that help prevent the spread of misinformation on the platform and empower people to take control of their messaging experience.

The month-long campaign highlights WhatsApp’s in-built product features and safety tools like block and report, forward labels that equip users to spot misinformation and prevent its spread further, and encourages people to verify information that sounds suspicious or inaccurate via fact-checking organizations on WhatsApp Channels. While there is no single action that can help prevent the spread of misinformation and fake news online, WhatsApp’s ‘Check the Facts’ campaign serves as a simple safety guide to fight misinformation. 

1. Understand when a message is forwarded

WhatsApp has created a label for all forwarded messages and limits the number of times you can forward messages as a way to encourage users to reconsider before sharing. Paying careful attention to messages with “forward labels” also helps slow down the spread of rumours, viral messages, and fake news. For example, if a message has a double arrow icon and is labeled “forwarded many times,” it can only be forwarded to one chat at a time. If a message has a “forwarded label” you can forward it to up to five chats and only one group at a time. 

2. Block and report suspicious accounts

WhatsApp provides a simple way for users to block accounts and make reports to WhatsApp if they encounter problematic messages, including those spreading misinformation. If you receive a message from an unknown sender, WhatsApp provides users the option to block them, with additional details such as groups in common, along with safety tools if you need to take action.

3. Follow fact-checking organization on WhatsApp Channels for accurate information

WhatsApp encourages users to double-check information that sounds suspicious or inaccurate – this is key to preventing the spread of misinformation. WhatsApp has partnered with 10 independent fact-checking organizations that help users to verify information in 13 languages. People can follow dedicated fact-checking organizations on WhatsApp Channels to receive verified and accurate updates. The fact-checking channels available include:

Pharma major Dr. Reddy’s organises two-week educational and awareness campaign on diabetes management in rural India.

Telugu super news,Hyderabad,November 24rd, 2023:In November, National Diabetes Awareness Month in India, Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., a global pharma major organised a two-week long educational and awareness campaign in rural India. Dr. Reddy’s has been in the forefront of the ongoing battle against diabetes in India for many years now.

In view of the urgent need for intervention in rural healthcare and particularly, raising awareness on diabetes management, the rural healthcare team of Dr. Reddy’s implemented a multipronged approach covering diagnostic, therapeutic, and awareness and educational programmes.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research – India Diabetes (ICMR-INDIAB) national cross-sectional study, it is estimated that India has around 101 million people with diabetes and 136 million people with prediabetes1

Dr. Reddy’s diabetes campaign began with the distribution of patient educational material on
diabetes to promote healthy lifestyle choices. Emphasising risk factors, symptoms, and effective management of diabetes, Dr. Reddy’s’ rural healthcare team conducted 3,600+ UDAY (Unite against Diabetes & Hypertension) camps, covering a total of 6,000+ villages in India.

These camps show Dr. Reddy’s commitment to address the diabetes crisis in rural India and facilitated the screening of 1.12 lakh patients for early identification of diabetes cases and those at risk.

Some of the villages that were part of the UDAY camps include: Madha, Indapur and Nilanga from Solapur (Maharashtra); Chandori and Rajapur from Nashik (Maharashtra); Shiroli and Murgud from Kolhapur (Maharashtra); Newasa Fata, Jamkhed from Ahmednagar district (Maharashtra); Koradacheri from Tiruvarur (Tamil Nadu), Pullambadi from Trichy (Tamil Nadu), Parangipettai from Cuddalore (Tamil Nadu),

Pottaneri from Salem (Tamil Nadu), Kelamangalam from Krishnagiri (Tamil Nadu); Dubbaka in Siddipet district (Telangana), Erravalli village in Kondapaka mandal (Telangana), Karepalli in Khammam district (Telangana) and
Devaruppula in Jangaon district (Telangana).

Further, the campaign engaged around 45,000 rural doctors and healthcare professionals in scientific programmes to enhance their knowledge of therapy, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications in diabetes management. A webinar featuring renowned endocrinology expert Dr. Sanjay Kalra, Chairperson, Education working group, International Society of Endocrinology (ISE) provided crucial insights to empower rural India in diabetes management in regional languages.

A session by a nutritionist was an integral part of the webinar, offering insights into diet and lifestyle modifications crucial for effective diabetes management. Customized diabetes diet plans, specific to different regions of India, were shared with rural doctors and healthcare
professionals to enhance patient care.

Ather Energy has received approval from the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) for its recently developed indigenous charging connector. It is called the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS) and can be used by two-, three-, and four-wheelers. Globally, this is the first-ever combined AC and DC charger, that has been developed in India. With the introduction of the LECCS, the eco-system could benefit from a large-scale adoption of electric vehicles. Additionally, independent charging operators, too, could benefit from this and more fast and slow charging stations could be made present across the country.

“On the back of an enhanced product portfolio, we had a strong start to the festive season. We delivered 10,056 scooters to our customers, registering ~30% month-on-month growth. With Diwali just around the corner, we expect this positive momentum to continue. We continue to make strides in the charging infrastructure. Ather’s charging connector has been approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as the nation’s first indigenously developed standard for light electric vehicles in strong step towards making India a global leader in LEVs. We also ventured into our first international market. We are all set to open our first Experience Centre in Nepal on November 5th. Ather has also reached another significant milestone in the domestic market with the launch in Jammu, further expanding our retail presence in India to a total of 150 Experience Centres.

A relatively smaller market than its larger neighbours like India and China, Nepal however presents a very promising proposition for companies like Ather to understand new markets in terms of product performance and acceptability.

Also, Ather Energy has partnered with top banks and NBFCs like IDFC First, Bajaj Finance, and Hero FinCorp to enhance accessibility to EVs. By offering flexible loan tenures of up to five years, the monthly EMIs for Ather electric scooters have become as low as Rs 2,999. This forward-thinking initiative aligns with the Indian government’s goal of achieving 30% electric vehicle penetration by 2030, making sustainable mobility a reality nationwide.
