Team Infosys crowned champions at Hyderabad’s Biggest Corporate Badminton Championship

Telugu super news,Hyderabad, February 5, 2024: Team Infosys crowned champions at the fifth edition of the Corporate Badminton Championship on Sunday at the high-quality sports centre in Hyderabad.

In a thrilling Championship Cup final, Team Infosys defeated Team Optum to claim the trophy, while Team Novartis overcame the challenge of Team JP Morgan Chase in the Challengers Cup final. The chairman of Kankanala Sports Group, Sh. Abhishek Reddy Kankanala was the chief guest of the event and gave the awards to the winners. 

“The Corporate Badminton Championship is a great initiative by Gamepoint that aims to promote and incorporate the numerous benefits of sports amongst the employees in the corporate world, thereby promoting improved physical health, mental well-being, and encouraging enhanced teamwork among the employees,” stated Sh. Abhishek Reddy Kankanala after attending the event.

Meanwhile, in the individual events, Rutwika Das of TCS defeated Geetha (JPMC) 30-23 to win the women’s singles trophy, while Pranava Jain clinched the men’s singles title with a walkover. Avvaru Sathish Babu and Donthu Sai Ram (FINMKT) overcame Bharath & Manoj of Infosys 30-22 to claim the men’s doubles event. 

The women’s doubles title went to Pooja & Ritwika Das (TCS), who beat Geetha & Nikitha (JPMC) by 30-26. Infosys’ Bharath & Mousam claimed the mixed doubles event with a 30-25 win over Pranava Jain & Riya Kumari of Microsoft. Wipro’s Raghu Vamshi P clinched the title in 35+ Men’s singles category after defeating Satya R (Service Now) 30-18, while Abdul Zabbar & Deepak Dixit of Novartis won 35+ Mens doubles event with 30-21 victory against Jagadeesh & Nandikolla Srinadh (Optum). 

The corporate Badminton Championship was conducted in a unique team event format along with 7 individual events. In the team event, a total of 8 companies participated which included JP Morgan Chase and Co., Goldman Sachs, INFOSYS, Novartis India Limited, Colruyt group, FinMkt, Samrat Group, alongside last year’s winner Optum.

More than 100 participants took part in seven individual events. Each game in the tournament was decided by a single game of 30 points.

Telugu super news,Hyderabad, August 16, 2023:Telangana Sailors continued their winning spree at the Mysore Nationals at the Krishnaraja Sagara Dam A total of 12 medals were won, the highest by any state at the Junior National ranking regatta.

Deekshita Komaravelly trounced the opposition and finished overall 3rd across genders in a 39 sailor fleet and had it not been for a few disastrous mistakes she would have finished in 2nd position. She is now the National Girls Champion and India’s No.1 in the under 15 Optimist Class, a feat three girls before her from Telangana have accomplished. Preethi Kongara, Jhansi Laveti, and Ravali Parandi 

Needless to say that she cornered to Gold Medal for Girls with a huge margin of 45 points and the second girl Samriddhi Batham from Bhopal was in 10th position.

Lahiri Komaravelly her sister grabbed the bronze and both sisters from Udbhav School are better positioned in the National ranking with the Junior National looming in Bombay in October both are gunning for a ranking of 1 and 2 with a few more years to go for the younger Lahiri.

In the 420 Mixed and Open Classes , the Monsoon Regatta Champions skipper Dharani Laveti and crew Mallesh Vadla won 9 straight races out of  11 leaving no doubts in anybody’s mind as to who rules the International 420 Class in India. Fellow Telanganites Thanuja Kameshwar and Shravan were able to clinch only one win and a string of 2nd positions and clinched the silver. Both sailors also won the Gold and silver in the Open Class 

Banny Bongur, Daniel Rajkumar and Mohammad Rizwan also of Telangana have also moved up in their ranking at the Mysore Nationals giving Telangana an edge at the forthcoming Junior Nationals and surely a great chance at the Sports Ministry-funded Internationals to ensue thereafter.

“Despite being a landlocked state and only a small lake to practice in Telangana has so far produced more than 150 medals across years and this year in specific has been very promising in the International 420 Class and the Optimist Classes”, said a proud Mr.Dadi Bhote, President of the Telangana Sailing Association.

“We are making great progress as a power to reckon with in Sailing with one girl , Preethi Kongara selected by the Federation for the Asian Games and many in the pipeline heading to be part of the National Squad”, said Suheim Sheikh, President and Chief Coach of the YCH Sports Foundation based out of Hyderabad.

Telugu super news,Hyderabad, August 2, 2023: Hyderabad-based Vamcy Merla Sports Foundation became the first sports body to receive the prestigious Bharat Ke Anmol award during a glittering ceremony at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi on Tuesday evening.

The Foundation’s chairman Mr Vamcy Merla accepted the coveted award, bestowed on him for promoting talented but financially challenged boys and girls across several sports, ranging from soccer, roller-skating, kabaddi, badminton to motorsports. Bharat Ke Anmol, is one of its kind National Award, acknowledges and celebrates eminent personalities in India who have not only risen above the rest in their field of speciality but have also
done yeoman service to the society and to the disadvantaged.

Padmasree Dr Vijay Kumar Shah (a prominent Social Activist), Dr. T.S. Rao (Father of Vaccines), Dr SM Khan (Doordarshan Director-General, News), Air Commodore Rashid Zafar Qureshi (Kargil veteran), Mir Mothesham (former Mr World silver medallist) and Smt Chandrakala Padia (eminent scholar) were among the elite personalities who were feted.

“My father Late Shri Merla Chandrashekara Rao used to run several charitable trusts and provide every kind of assistance to the poor and downtrodden. తెలుగు సూపర్ న్యూస్,హైదరాబాద్, జూలై 21 2023: తెలంగాణకు చెందిన సెయిలర్లు ధరణి లావేటి– వడ్ల మల్లేష్, దీక్షిత కొమరవెల్లి, మధ్యప్రదేశ్​కు చెందిన ఏకవల్య బాతం హుస్సేన్​ సాగర్​ లో జరుగుతున్న మాన్​సూన్​ రెగ్గట్టా జాతీయ ర్యాంకింగ్​ చాంపియన్​ షిప్​లో అదరగొడుతున్నారు. మరో మూడు రేసులు మాత్రమే మిగిలుండగా తమ తమ విభాగాల్లో స్వర్ణ పతకాలను దాదాపు ఖాయం చేసుకున్నారు.

సెయింట్ ఫ్రాన్సిస్ కళాశాల విద్యార్థిని ధరణి లావేటి ఎనిమిదేళ్ల క్రితం నాంది ఫౌండేషన్ నాన్హి కాళి కార్యక్రమంలో భాగంగా యాచ్ క్లబ్ ఆఫ్ హైదరాబాద్‌లో చేరింది. వయసులో పెద్దది అయినప్పటికీ పెద్ద ఆమె ఇప్పటిదాకా తన చెల్లెలు, నేషనల్స్​ విజేత, ఇప్పటికి ఐదు దేశాల్లో జరిగిన పోటీల్లో భారత్​కు ప్రాతినిథ్యం వహించిన ఝాన్సీప్రియ లావేటి నీడలోనే ఉంది. ఇది వరకు 470 క్లాస్​ నేషనల్స్‌లో కాంస్యం మాత్రమే ఎన్నడూ ముఖ్యమైన జాతీయ ఛాంపియన్‌షిప్‌ గెలిచింది లేదు. చాలా అరుదుగా మాత్రమే పోడియం నిలుచునేది. అయితే, ఇన్నాళ్లు ఆమె పడ్డ కష్టానికి అదృష్టం కూడా తోడై ధరణి, వడ్ల మల్లేష్ ఇప్పుడు హుస్సేన్​ సాగర్​ లో జరుగుతున్న మాన్​సూన్​ రెగ్గట్టా జాతీయ ర్యాంకింగ్​ చాంపియన్​ షిప్​లో మరో మూడు రేసులు మాత్రమే మిగిలుండగా స్వర్ణ పతకం సాధించబోతున్నారు. ఈ జోడీ సమీప ప్రత్యర్థులు నైన్సీ రాయ్ –అనోరక్ షెండేలపై స్పష్టమైన 4 పాయింట్ల తేడాతో ముందంజలో ఉన్నారు.


వనపర్తికి చెందిన వడ్ల మల్లేష్ 11 సంవత్సరాల వయస్సులో యాచ్ క్లబ్ ఆఫ్ హైదరాబాద్‌లో చేరాడు. ఆ తర్వాత ఐఎన్​ఎస్ మండోవిలో నేవీ బాయ్ స్పోర్ట్స్ కంపెనీలో చేరడానికి ఎంపికయ్యాడు. తన గ్రాడ్యుయేషన్​ పూర్తి చేసుకున్న మల్లేష్​ ఇప్పుడు అండర్-19 ఇంటర్నేషనల్ 420 క్లాస్ బోట్‌లో ధరణితో జతకట్టడానికి హైదరాబాద్‌కు తిరిగి వచ్చాడు. తమకు అలవాటైన హుస్సేన్​ సాగర్ అలలపై పోటీ పడుతూ నిన్న హ్యాట్రిక్ విజయాలు నమోదు చేసిన ఈ జంట శుక్రవారం మరో రెండు రేసుల్లో విజయం సాధించి స్వర్ణ పతకాన్ని దాదాపు ఖాయం చేసుకుంది. ఈ జంట స్వర్ణం కైవసం చేసుకోకుండా భూమిపై ఉన్న ఏ శక్తీ అడ్డుకోలేనట్లు కనిపిస్తోంది.


మధ్యప్రదేశ్‌కు చెందిన నైన్సీ– అనిరాజ్ జంట రెండో స్థానంతో సరిపెట్టుకోవాల్సి వస్తోంది. కాంస్య పతకంపై గురిపెట్టిన స్థానిక అమ్మాయి రవళి పరండి– శ్రవణ్ కత్రావత్ శుక్రవారం పోటీల్లో రెండో స్థానంతో నిలిచారు. అయితే, మొదటి స్థానం దిశగా దూసుకెళ్తున్న ఈ జోడీని దురదృష్టం వెంటాడింది. రెండో రేసులో మధ్యలో రవళి ఎడమ భుజం కండరంలో చీలిక రావడంతో ఇబ్బందిపడింది. తీవ్ర నొప్పితో బాధపడ్డ ఆమెను ఆసుపత్రికి తీసుకెళ్లాల్సి వచ్చింది. ఎంతో కష్టపడి చిక్కినట్టే చిక్కిన కాంస్య పతకం వారి నుంచి దూరమడంతో ఆ జట్టు సిబ్బంది కన్నీళ్లు పెట్టుకున్నారు.


ఇక, అండర్ 15 ఆప్టిమిస్ట్​ క్లాస్ బాలుర విభాగంలో మధ్యప్రదేశ్‌లోని ఎన్‌ఎస్‌ఎస్ కు చెందిన ఏకలవ్య బాతమ్​ అగ్రస్థానంలో నిలవగా, ఎన్‌బిఎస్‌సి గోవాకు చెందిన అజయ్ గజ్జి రెండు రేసుల్లో గెలిచి, మరో రేసులో రెండో స్థానం మొత్తంగా ద్వితీయ స్థానంలో కొనసాగుతున్నాడు. ఎన్‌బిఎస్‌సి గోవాకే చెందిన చెందిన శరణ్య యాదవ్‌ను మూడో స్థానానికి వచ్చాడు. అజయ్ వైసీహెచ్​ పూర్వ విద్యార్థి కావడం గమనార్హం.


అండర్ 15 ఆప్టిమిస్ట్​ క్లాస్ బాలికల విభాగంలో తెలంగాణకు చెందిన దీక్షిత కొమరవెల్లి హవా నడుస్తోంది. తను అగ్రస్థానంలో ఉండగా.. ఎన్​ఎస్​ఎస్​ కు చెందిన షగున్ ఝా ఇద్దరి మధ్య ఆధిక్యాన్ని తగ్గించినప్పటికీ బంగారు పతకానికి దగ్గరగా రాలేకపోయింది. షగున్‌ రజత పతకానికి సిద్ధమైనట్లుగా కనిపిస్తోంది. మరో రెండు రోజుల్లో మూడు రేసులు జరగనున్నాయి. ప్రస్తతానికైతే ధరణి– మల్లేష్, ఏకలవ్య, దీక్షితలకు బంగారు పతకాలు చిక్కనట్టే అనిపిస్తోంది.

Telugu super news,Hyderabad, July 21 2023:Dharani Laveti now a student of St.Francis College joined the Yacht Club of Hyderabad as part of the Nanhi Kali program of Naandi Foundation eight years ago despite being elder has always lived under the shadow of her younger sister JhansipriyaLaveti who won the Nationals and traveled 5 countries representing India.

Dharani has in the past got only a bronze in the 470 Nationals and has never won any significant National Championship and equally rarely a podium position. 

2023 is a turn of hard work and luck and Dharani and crew VadlaMallesh are well on their way to a gold medal with just three races to go and a significant 4-point difference with her closest rivals Naincy Rai and Anorak Shende 

VadlaMallesh who hails from Vanaparthy joined the Yacht Club of Hyderabad at 11 years was selected to join the Navy Boy Sports Company at INS Mandovi has just graduated and returned to Hyderabad to be paired with Dharani in the under-19 International 420 Class of boat.

With a hatrick of wins yesterday and two more wins today the duo looks like no force on earth will stop them from clinching gold.

Naincy and Aniraj of Madhya Pradesh had to make do with a string of second positions while local girl RavaliParandi and crew Shravan Kathravath were gunning for the bronze today with a second finish and cruising to a first in the second race when she collapsed with a ligament tear in her left shoulder leaving her with searing pain and had to be taken to the hospital leaving her and crew in tears. A sad way to have a hard-earned bronze snatched away from you.

In the under 15 Optimist Class Ekalavya of NSS Madhya Pradesh left no stone unturned in staying well entrenched at the top of the leaderboard while Ajay Gajji of NBSC Goa sailed brilliantly with two wins and a second and pipped Sharanya Yadav also of NBSC Goa to third position. Ajay was also an erstwhile student of the YCH.

DeekshitaKomaravelly of Telangana continues to rule the under-15 girls while Shagun Jha of NSS has closed the gap a bit making the gold a wee uncomfortable but still far from being lost. Shagun seems set for Silver. 

A lot is still at stake in the next three races across the next two days with three races still to be sailed but at this stage, the Gold medals look significantly secure in the hands of Dharani &Mallesh and Ekalavya and Deekshita.
