Today Meta hosted the second edition of the Grow Your Business Summit, its annual event dedicated to the growth agenda of small businesses in India, and announced new working capital support and enhanced service support features for all advertisers in the country. To address the evolving need for working capital, Meta has announced a new financial support feature to ease cash flow for small businesses in India – No Cost EMI.  India is the first country within Meta where No Cost EMI has been launched. 

This feature will allow advertisers to pay Meta for their advertising campaigns in easy, equated monthly installments over 3 months through participating banks at no additional cost of interest to them. Meta will bear the applicable interest payable to the bank, and give it as an upfront discount to the business on its ad spends. Working capital access is a concern for many new and growing businesses in the country. With No Cost EMI billing, they can choose any amount between INR 3,200 and INR 5,00,000 to convert to EMIs.

With several small businesses in India taking to digital and the Meta platforms to reach their customers, they need enhanced support to resolve their queries. Today Meta also announced 24 x 7 chat support for all our active advertisers in India.  This means that day or night, 365 days a year, they get the support you need. Meta launches No-Cost EMIs for advertisers in India 

In 2021, Meta launched the Small Business Loans Initiative, a program that enables business loans for Meta’s small business advertisers through third-party lending platforms. This too was an India-first initiative within Meta. At the Grow Your Business Summit, it was announced that the scope of this program has now expanded to 19000+ pin codes across India, which is almost the entire length and breadth of the country. This means that Meta advertisers from even the smallest towns and villages can now apply for collateral-free business loans from as little as INR 30,000 to as much as INR 1 Crore.

The Indian startup ecosystem skyrocketed in 2021 to become the third largest globally, with a 3x increase in total funding over 2020. However, despite a stellar show, two challenges remain predominant in the Indian startup space:

(1) Many unicorns in India lack a compelling revenue base and require an infusion of cash flow for survival.

(2) The need to accelerate their digital transformation with technology and platforms through policies and support mechanisms towards domestic capital participation, favourable investment climate in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, incentives to set up incubators in every state, tax exemptions in foreign direct investments, and a high focus on startup infrastructure.

Says Sanjay Shah, Chief Operating Officer – India/SE Asia, Wadhwani Foundation, “At Wadhwani Foundation, we strive to support entrepreneurs as they are job creators making a significant and positive impact in emerging economies. The YoY annual growth in the Indian startup ecosystem is projected at 12-15%. However, to consistently achieve this growth, the startup growth needs to be concurrent with the growth of ecosystem enablers and market catalysts like accelerators, incubators, venture capitalists, angel investors, support groups, technology corporations and mentors.

Performance highlights

 Q1 FY23 versus Q1 FY22 §  Record quarterly Revenue from operations at ₹937.7 crore, up by 50%§  EBIT from operations up 40% to ₹101.8 crore, delivers double-digit profitability at 10.9%§  PAT ₹76.9 crore up by 1% (up by 30% if we exclude one-time tax provision reversal of ₹16.8 crore last year)

Sharing an overview on the first quarter performance, Rajiv Rajgopal, Managing Director, Akzo Nobel India said,

“We’ve continued our strong growth momentum in paints and coatings to register record quarterly topline. In decorative paints, growth was led by refreshed flagship luxury (Dulux Velvet Touch with Tru Colour technology) and premium brands (Dulux Weathershield Max), supported by new launch in mass segment. Metro and Tier I towns continued to drive growth, while inflationary pressures were felt in semi-urban and rural geographies which had distribution led growth. Demand uptick led by automotive, marine and protective and powder resulted in robust double-digit growth across all coatings business.

Staying on course with its Grow & Deliver strategy, Akzo Nobel India continued to address raw material increase and currency volatility with pricing actions,” added Rajiv.

WhatsApp’s ease of use, simple interface and ability to operate the app on even the most basic smartphones undoubtedly makes it a lifeline for over 400 million Indians who are using the platform to stay connected with their loved ones, promoting last-mile connectivity across the remotest parts of the country. 

With digital payments on the rise across the globe, India today is the largest market globally for digital payments, boosted by UPI growth. The payments interface has seen a volume increase of 33% YoY between 2021 and 2022, thereby resulting in the introduction of a host of digital payment solutions by various players. That said, while India is seeing exponential growth of digital payments, parts of the rural and semi-urban population still remain untouched by its effects and benefits. This indicates that the next tranche of digital products need to be more accessible and inclusive, which is where payments on WhatsApp can have a significant role to play.

Canon today introduced a one of its kind immersive event series titled #FindYourStory for content creators powered by its latest vlogging heartthrob, the EOS R10.
