Samsung Gets Record 150,000 Pre-bookings for ‘Made in India’ Galaxy Z Flip5, Z Fold5 in India

Telugu super news, India, August 24, 2023: Samsung, India’s largest consumer electronics brand, said it has received 150,000 pre-bookings for its recently-launched Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 smartphones. Samsung opened pre-bookings for its fifth generation of foldable devices in India on July 27, 2023. The pre-bookings closed on August 17, 2023.

“We are excited to see the overwhelming response for our fifth generation foldable smartphones in India. The pre-bookings for ‘Made in India’ Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 in India are 1.5x of the previous generation of foldables, indicating strong demand and growing preferences for our category-defining foldable smartphones. We are confident that the robust demand for Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 among India’s tech-savvy consumers will help us consolidate our leadership in India,” said Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India.

Samsung has seen strong demand for Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 from tier 1 and 2 cities, witnessing 1.4x growth versus last year. Interestingly, demand in tier 3 and 4 towns has also grown at the same pace, indicating that foldables are becoming mainstream in India.

To make foldables mainstream, Samsung increased its distribution footprint, ensuring Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are available across 10,000 stores in India, up from 6,000 stores through which the previous generation of foldables were sold. The company has also rolled out a 360-degree campaign for foldables that spans across digital media, OLV (online videos), TV, OOH and print.

“India is joining the Flip side, with over 150,000 consumers pre-booking Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5. We expect foldable smartphones to contribute over 30% to our premium segment business this year, indicating growing importance of the foldable category in India,” said Aditya Babbar, Senior Director, Mobile Business, Samsung India.

Both Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are equipped with IPX8 support, aircraft grade Armor Aluminum frames, and Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2 applied to both the Flex Window and back cover. Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 come with new integrated hinge module that features a dual rail structure for diffusing external impacts.

Customers can buy Galaxy Z Flip5 (256 GB) for a net effective price of INR 85999, while Galaxy Z Fold5 (256 GB) is available at a net effective price of INR 138999 for a limited period in India.
