Samsung Targets 50% Market Share in Super Premium Segment with Launch of Galaxy Z Fold5, Z Flip5 in India: TM Roh

Telugu super news,Hyderbad,august 1st ,2023:The recently-launched Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 provide the most innovative foldable experience based on the know-how and the experience that we have accumulated across five generations, said TM Roh, President & Head of MX Business, Samsung Electronics. 

“The new foldable smartphones – Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 – provide uncompromised flexibility and diverse features including Flex Hinge, Flex Cam and Flex Window,” Mr Roh said.

Customers will be able to enjoy a unique mobile experience that is available only on the foldables, thanks to the outstanding premium Galaxy features as well as the most compact and sophisticated design, he added. Also, the ecosystem experience has also been much strengthened, thanks to the Galaxy Tab S9 series, and the Galaxy Watch6 series, Mr Roh said. 

“India is one of the fastest growing and the largest markets in the world, and it is also a very important strategic market that is leading the way for popularization of the foldables. Indian consumers are highly sensitive to technological innovation and also very much open to innovation. Galaxy products already account for 35% market share in the super-premium ($1000+) segment in India, and with the newly-launched Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 we are now aiming at over 50% market share,” TM Roh said.

In second half of 2023, with the new and improved Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, we will be solidifying our foldable leadership in the India market, he said, adding that Galaxy Tab S9 series, as well as the Watch6 and Watch6 Classic, will provide even stronger Galaxy ecosystem experience this year.

Samsung expects sales of Galaxy foldables – from the first Galaxy Fold launch in 2019 to the recently-launched fifth generation foldables – to reach 30 million units in 2023. In a few years, global demand for foldable smartphones will rise to 100 million units annually. India, one of the largest and fastest growing market, is important for mainstreaming of foldable devices, Mr Roh added.

Premium Phones Like Galaxy S23 series to Stay in Demand Despite Slowdown: TM Roh

Telugu Super News,India,March 20, 2023:Dr. TM Roh, President & Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, said the premium smartphone market in India is likely to grow despite the economic slowdown. Rising adoption of 5G smartphones and global consumer trend to buy smartphones that are more reliable will lead to growth in the Indian market, he added.

“Demand for premium smartphones, with a price tag of over $400 in India, is rising quickly as the 5G network expands. The 5G smartphone market here is expected to grow by over 60% in 2023, with the premium smartphone market projected to grow by more than 30%,” Dr Roh added.

Samsung recently said it had notched over 140,000 pre-bookings for its premium Galaxy S23 series in just 24 hours in India, twice the number of pre-bookings it received for Galaxy S22 series last year.

“It is being very well received by Indian customers, especially the Galaxy S23 Ultra in green,” he said.

Dr. Roh, the youngest President ever appointed at Samsung, said the Indian smartphone market will keep growing and Samsung will be there for the ride. 

According to analysts, India will have nearly 1 billion smartphone users by 2026, driven by rapid adoption of smartphones in young consumers. India has over 600 million Gen MZ consumers, the largest in the world.

Dr Roh said Samsung will continue to invest in its R&D center in India and advance the smart factory technology at its manufacturing center in India.

“2023 marks the 50th anniversary of Korea and India’s diplomatic relationship. I am looking forward to the next 50 years and please continue to show your love and support for Galaxy products, which are created with effort, dedication and innovation,” Dr Roh said.
