Indian High Commissioner pledges support to drive FDI to Lagos Free Zone, Nigeria

Telugu Super News,India,February 4th, 2023: The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Shri G. Balasubramanian, has pledged support to drive Foreign Direct Investment to the Lagos Free Zone (LFZ). He made this know during an official visit to Lagos Free Zone in Lagos on Friday, January 20, 2023.

His excellency, Shri G. Balasubramanian, expressed satisfaction with the quality of infrastructure and investments in the Zone. He stated that LFZ has the potential to change Nigeria’s economic landscape by attracting more foreign direct investments. He pledged to share the message of the unique opportunities available in the Zone with Indian companies in Nigeria and abroad.

“Lagos Free Zone offers investors a unique opportunity, especially in tax benefits and exemptions. Nigeria is the giant of Africa, and there is a great opportunity to be explored within the Zone. Lekki Port, on its own, is a fantastic facility that will change how business is done in Nigeria. Of course, it will attract a large number of businesses and a large number of containers to be handled”, he said.

In his welcome remarks during the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone, Dinesh Rathi, described the Zone as the best investment destination in Nigeria for foreign direct investment. LFZ’s self-sustainable business ecosystem includes warehouses, standard factories, a logistics hub, a fire station, broadband network connectivity, residential developments, a medical facility, solid waste management, and an independent gas-based power plant.

Rathi explained that the Zone, promoted by Singapore-based Tolaram, is the first privately owned special economic Zone in Nigeria, covering an area of 850 hectares of land. He noted that the Zone is unique in its focus on delivering ease of doing business, giving businesses in the Zone a competitive edge.

“Lagos Free Zone offers many competitive advantages and incentives for investors interested in locating their businesses in the Zone; these include single-window clearance for regulators, enabling infrastructure, the opportunity to live-work-play, and access to global markets. Another symbolic advantage is that LFZ is the only Zone integrated with a deep sea port.” he said.

Leading Professional hair care and color brand, Matrix India, dedicated to upskilling small salons and upgrading the hair dressing industry hosted a 2-day mega event in Mumbai – The Matrix Hair Transformers, a hair color and artistry competition, where budding hairdressers across the country competed by showcasing their exceptional talents with a new technique –“COLOR MELTING”. The contest commenced on 15th May and received over a whopping 62,000 entries from hairdressers across 400 cities. With a panel of notable jury members like Tarik Jašarević – Australian Matrix Artist and owner of T Salon, Binaifer Pardiwalla – Director of Education SAPMENA for Professional Products Division and Melroy Dickson – National Education Head of Matrix India, the participants were judged on several parameters to select the finest hair artists of the year.

Through Matrix Hair Transformers 2022, Matrix India has not only created a platform to celebrate talent but also gave aspiring hairdressers a platform to upskill, elevate and exhibit their artistry skills while also digitally upskilling them to become future-ready. The entries were evaluated based on technique, styling, and presentation, post which 160 semi-finalists were shortlisted across regions. The semi-finalists were then invited to Mumbai to participate in the technical round held on day 1 where they were judged on their coloration skills by the jury. The semi-finalists from across the country competed to create the best Matrix Color Melt looks which was brought to life by a professional photoshoot. This was followed by the jury evaluation and the announcement of the final 20 winners, where the night concluded with a grand celebration.

On Day 2, the 20 Transformers were invited for an interactive tete-a-tete session with celebrated Matrix Hair artist Tarik Jašarević which was followed by an informative hair styling workshop by him, Binaifer Pardiwalla and Melroy Dickson. This was followed by a live working session where the transformers got exposure to collaborate and co-create the styling looks on celebrity influencers. The event concluded with a content creation activity with hair artist and experts in the industry. The event was graced by the crème de la crème of the industry that included many renowned influencers like Chetna Pande, Sandeepa Dhar, Daizy Batra, Sakshi Sidhwani amongst others.

Sathyam Parihar from Vishakhapatnam was amongst the 20 final winners of the Matrix Hair Transformers and he has been working at the AR Hair Studio. He has over 8 years of experience in the hairdressing space.

On winning the Matrix Hair Transformers trophy, Sathyam Parihar said, “I cannot explain in words, how happy I am feeling at this moment. Eight years ago, I started this journey from a small salon and here I am today, as a Matrix Hair Transformer. I am truly grateful to all my mentors, without whom this would have never been possible. I am thankful to team Matrix for giving me this space to showcase my abilities as a hairdresser.”
