Cancer is the major cause for loss of lives and livelihoods
The incidence of cancer in India is on the rise due to a mix of causes such as dietary, lifestyle changes, an aging population and improved diagnostic methods.

The total number of cancer cases in India in 2020 was 1.39 million (100.7 per 100,000 population) and is likely to rise to 1.57 million by 2025 (108.6 per 100,000 population) as per a 2020 report of the National Cancer Registry Program. This also may be underestimate and real incidence is three times more.

Cancer is projected to become the leading cause of mortality and morbidity among non-communicable diseases and the burden is expected to increase in the coming years, especially in developing countries.

How is Continental Cancer Centre different..?
The motto of the Continental Cancer Center is “Total Cancer Care – from Prevention to Palliation”.

As the Director of the Continental Cancer Centre Dr. Jagannath will be leading a team of dedicated experts who will take care of the patients as a coordinated team. The oncology team includes surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, nuclear medicine and radiology experts, nutrition and preventive oncology experts.

Prevention and Early detection are crucial for defeating the Big C
The Continental Cancer Center focuses on early detection and diagnosis. Early-stage cancer treatment not only reduces patient expenses but also significantly improves the chances of successful outcomes. For example, for the prevention of cervical cancer needs only Rs.2500 with an HPV vaccination and VA examination.

The treatment of an early-stage cervical cancer will be completed within Rs. 50,000. But the same cervical cancer to be treated in stage three and stage four will go up to 4-5 lakhs with a diminished survival. Stage One and Two cervical cancers so survival of 90% plus the stage three and four do not even have survival of 40 to 50%. This is also true of breast cancer and oral cancers which are the commonest cancers in our country.

Distributed cancer care to reach every district
To extend the reach of quality cancer care beyond the city, the Continental Cancer Center has adopted a distributed cancer care model with a hub-and-spoke approach, establishing nodes in various districts. This approach will allow patients from different regions to access the best possible care using a single contact number and consultation portal. This way, we would be the first in the state to adopt a Cancer Care Plan for a large geographical region of
the state is now being just localized to the city.

National and International presence
The Continental Cancer Center is already attracting patients not only from across the country but also from international destinations like Cameroon, Somalia, Kenya, and Nairobi. To enhance accessibility and convenience, the center is leveraging remote consultations, Virtual tumors boards, tele consults, telepathology, and a digital navigation center to guide patients from diagnosis to treatment and back to their communities.
