Shree Cement’s Managing Director Neeraj Akhoury, appointed as Chairman at NCCBM

Telugu super news,New Delhi, January 23, 2024: Mr. Neeraj Akhoury, President – Cement Manufacturers’ Association and MD, Shree Cement Ltd, has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCCBM) for a span of two years (2023 and 2024). The decision was taken at a meeting of the Board of Governors of NCCBM held on January 10, 2024 at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi.

Mr. Akhoury brings with him over three decades of rich experience in the cement industry. Before joining Shree Cement, Mr. Akhoury worked with various marquee corporates, including Tata, Lafarge Group, ACC Limited, Holcim India and Ambuja Cement – across leadership roles in two continents. He joined Shree Cement in October 2022.

The National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCCBM) is an apex Research and Development organisation under the administrative control of DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

Commenting on the development, Dr. L P Singh, Director General, National Council for Cement and Building Materials, said, “We are very fortunate to have someone like Akhoury Ji with his vast experience to lead NCCBM. Under his dynamic leadership, we hope to strengthen our research activities and take new initiatives in the development of low carbon cement, carbon capture and utilisation, and conservation of natural resources, which will lead towards sustainable development of the cement and concrete sector”.

NCCBM is dedicated to research, technology development & transfer, education & industrial services for cement, allied building materials & construction industries. It has its corporate unit and main laboratories located at Ballabgarh (Haryana) & regional units at Hyderabad (Telangana), Ahmedabad (Gujarat) and Bhubaneshwar (Odisha).

(formerly Westlife Development Ltd.) – owner and operator of McDonald’s restaurants in West and South India, has announced the elevation of Saurabh Kalra as the Managing Director (MD) of its subsidiary. Prior to this, Saurabh was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the organization. In this new role, Saurabh will focus on the overall business strategy and growth opportunities, driving the company’s long-term success while continuing to remain deeply involved in day-to-day operations.

Saurabh brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge gathered over his twenty-year-plus career with Westlife. Having started his career as a Management Trainee in 2002, Saurabh became one of the youngest Restaurant Managers. Over the years, he straddled roles across operations, training, real estate, strategy, and development functions, gradually and successfully transitioning from a restaurant-facing role to a CXO role. Saurabh was instrumental in launching and growing McCafe and the Experience of The Future (EOTF) restaurants in India. He was also an integral part of the team that established the McDonald’s brand in South India.

Saurabh has led several initiatives that have delivered significantly higher profitability and improved operational efficiencies. His deep commitment to excellence has helped Westlife to continue to be a leader in the QSR space even in a time of immense adversity brought on by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Saurabh was also an active participant in crafting the 2022 Vision and has been playing a key role in operationalizing Vision 2027, along with Akshay Jatia, Executive Director, Westlife Foodworld.

Pratima Reddy announced as Managing Director of Merck Specialities

Merck today announced the appointment of Ms Pratima Reddy as the Managing Director for Merck Specialities Pvt. Ltd, the healthcare business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt in India. Pratima will lead India’s healthcare strategy and operations, effective August 1, 2022, as successor to Anandram Narasimhan, transitioning into a regional role at APAC. In his role, Anand has steered India and the Emerging Frontier Markets organization to a strong marker, beating growth across therapeutic areas.

Before taking over as the Managing Director of India Operations, Pratima was the Regional Franchise Leader (RFL) of the Cardiovascular, Metabolism and Endocrinology (CM&E) franchise in APAC. An active member of the APAC Leadership team, her efforts have ensured that the CM&E franchise continues to grow in the region and continues its market leadership despite market challenges.
