Kia India, one of the fastest-growing carmakers in the country, clocked 22,322 units of sales in August 2022, reporting year-on-year growth of 33.27% over the corresponding month last year. Continuing its healthy performance, the company retained its position on the 5 bestselling carmakers list. The Seltos led Kia India’s healthy performance in the month with 8,652 units, followed by the Sonet, Carens and Carnival with 7,838, 5,558 and 274 units, respectively. Indicating improved market sentiment, the company sold 1,66,167 units in the domestic market in the first 8 months of CY22, 29% higher than the same period last year, much more than industry growth of approximately 17%.

Notably, the company has sold over 1,20,000 Seltos, and Sonet combined in the first 8 months of the year, wherein Seltos has contributed with 65,513 units and Sonet with 55,740 units. The Carens has also kept its healthy momentum, with a contribution of 42,489 units at an average of over 6,000 units each month since its launch. Combining exports with its domestic sales, the company has crossed the 2.20 Lakh cumulative sales mark this year. Remarkably, Kia India has recorded its highest ever monthly export figure, dispatching over 8,100 units in global markets in August 2022.

Commenting on the performance, Hardeep Singh Brar, Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing, Kia India said, “We have been observing upward sales momentum since the beginning of this year, and it is a good sign for the Indian automotive market. Comparing the quarters, our monthly average so far for Q3 of 2022 stands at 7.8% over Q2 and 10.9% over Q1 of this year, indicating gradual improvement in supply chain constraints and healthy consumer sentiment. With the demand and supply curve staying positive, we are optimistic that an excellent festive season in terms of sales is ahead of us.”

He further added, ” Intending to provide a more enhanced, premium, and exclusive product experience to our customers, we have also launched the Sonet X Line earlier this morning. In order to inject fresh enthusiasm in our customers, we have recently launched a refreshed version of Seltos with six airbags as standard fitment, making it the only SUV in the segment offering the safety feature.”

August 2022 marked the 3rd anniversary of Kia in India. In this short span of time, the company has surpassed numerous milestones and set several benchmarks for the industry. The company has sold over 5.3 Lakh vehicles in domestic markets, attaining over 6% market share in 3 years of its India journey. Last month, the company also celebrated the 3-lakh sales milestone of its maiden product Seltos and became the fastest SUV in its segment to attain the milestone within just three years of its launch. Cumulatively, the company has dispatched over 6.5 lakh units since the start of its sales operations in India.

Kia India, one of the fastest-growing carmakers in the country, records monthly domestic sales of 22,022 units in July 2022, registering a 46.66% Y-0-Y growth over the corresponding month last year. Kia Seltos and Sonet, with 8,451 and 7,215 units, respectively, led the sales momentum for the brand, followed by Carens with 5978 units and Carnival with 288 units. The brand continues to be among the 5 best-selling car brands in the country.

In the first 7 months of CY22, Kia India has dispatched 1,43,845 units in the domestic market. The Seltos and Sonet contributed the majority to KIN’s CY22 sales with 40% and 33% share, respectively, while the Carens, that was launched in the second half of February 2022 contributed over 25%.

Commenting on the performance, Hardeep Singh Brar, Vice President & Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India said, “Gradual improvement in the supply chain and our customers’ continued love for the brand is adding momentum to Kia India’s growth. This year, we are outpacing the industry with cumulative growth of 28.4% over 2021, which is much higher than the industry growth of 16%. With the upcoming festive season, we shall strive to improve supplies to give faster deliveries to our customers. To ensure minimum wait time, we have been running our production facility in full capacity since February 2022 with utmost optimisation.”

As a part of its customer-centric approach, Kia India organised a nationwide ‘Ownership-Service Camp’ for Kia owners across its dealerships. Aimed at maintaining the health of Kia cars, the weeklong camp concluded on 27th July 2022, attracting over 30,000 customers.

Recently, the company zoomed past the 5 Lakh sales milestone in less than 3 years since its start of sales operations in the country. With the July 2022 sales, the total domestic sales figure of the brand stands at 5,11,219 units.
